At WeMoney, we're proud to shine a spotlight on providers that go beyond the basics - not just through competitive products, but through a commitment to their members. This year, RACV stood out in travel insurance, winning:
RACV was also recognised as a finalist for Domestic Travel Insurance of the Year and Best for Family Cover - assessed across affordability, coverage depth, claims experience, and customer service.
RACV has been serving Victorians for over 120 years - starting with roadside assistance and expanding into insurance, travel, and financial services, always with the same member-first philosophy at its core.
That heritage is exactly why the Best for Member Benefits award resonates. RACV isn't offering member perks as a marketing tactic - it's baked into how they operate. Members receive 15% off travel insurance year-round*, access to 18 retail shops across Victoria, and an ecosystem of benefits that spans roadside, home, car, and travel products. The longer you're a member, the more that value compounds.
Each year, WeMoney assesses travel insurers across affordability, value, product quality, customer experience, and claims. If you're comparing travel insurance providers, here are the key reasons RACV stood out:
Any product information on this page is a summary only. All product benefits are subject to policy terms, conditions (including eligibility criteria), exclusions, limits, sub-limits, and any general exclusions that apply. Refer to PDS for more detailed information.
Members save 15% every time they purchase travel insurance *- a permanent discount available through any eligible RACV product, not a sign-up offer that expires.
Of course, choosing the right travel insurance means knowing what to compare in the first place. Whether you're shopping for the first time or reviewing your current cover, these are the key inclusions worth checking before you buy:
The most critical inclusion for international travel. Look for unlimited cover including emergency evacuation and repatriation. Capped limits can run out quickly if you're hospitalised overseas, particularly in countries with high healthcare costs like the US or Japan.
Check the default limit and whether you can increase it. A low default won't cover an expensive trip. Also check whether the limit applies per person or per policy, and whether it covers pre-paid non-refundable costs like flights and accommodation if you need to cancel before departure.
Some policies pay out what an item is worth after depreciation, not what it costs to replace. Replacement value cover is significantly better, especially for electronics or jewellery.
Check whether your condition is automatically covered or needs to be declared separately. Undeclared conditions can void a claim entirely, so it's worth reading the automatic cover list carefully before you buy.
If you travel more than twice a year, an annual multi-trip policy often works out cheaper. Check the maximum trip duration allowed per journey, as this varies between providers.
Standard policies routinely exclude skiing, snowboarding, and other high-risk activities. If that's part of your trip, confirm the add-on is available, what activities it covers, and whether there are any age restrictions.
How you lodge a claim, how long approval takes, and what the approval rate looks like are easy details to overlook until you need them. They're worth checking upfront.
A lower excess means you pay less out of pocket when making a claim, but it can also mean a higher premium. Look for flexibility here.
24/7 support while overseas is essential, especially for international trips to remote destinations.
WeMoney is committed to helping Australians make smarter financial decisions - and that means recognising providers that deliver. RACV's win at the 2026 WeMoney Travel Insurance Awards is a reflection of a brand that has spent over a century putting its members first. Congratulations to the RACV team - it's well deserved.

Each year, WeMoney independently assesses Australian travel insurers across five categories: Affordability and Fees, Value, Quality, Customer Experience, and Claims Experience. Providers are scored on a 0-10 scale across a comprehensive set of criteria, with each award carrying its own unique weighting.
A WeMoney award is a third-party endorsement of a provider's products and services.
