Fashion Retailers’ Memberships

MYER ONE

You probably know about: for every $1 spent, you can earn two credits, and 2,000 credits will fetch you a $20 reward to spend in-store or online. This means you’re effectively getting 2% back on every purchase.

Perks you probably didn’t know about

Myer One offers three additional membership tiers:

Myer One Silver

Suppose you spend at least $1,500 in a membership year. In that case, you receive a $15 birthday reward, invitation to exclusive shopping events, and a $10 membership anniversary reward in addition to the base-level benefits.

Myer One Gold

Suppose you spend more than $6,000 in a membership year. In that case, you get a $20 birthday reward, $15 membership anniversary reward, an invitation to exclusive shopping events, free standard online delivery, and complimentary in-store gift wrapping.

Myer One Platinum

The secretive Platinum tier is invite-only, so you would probably need to be sinking considerably more than $6,000 in annual spending. Perks include a $30 birthday voucher, $20 membership anniversary reward, free big and bulky online deliveries, exclusive shopping offers/events, and personalised shopping parties.

DAVID JONES

You probably know about

It’s a mobile-based program which issues members with a digital barcode upon sign up and you are encouraged to scan the card every time you purchase with the David Jones department store. This barcode can also be saved in your Apple/Android wallet or the Stocard app.

However, there aren’t any specific points to earn. Instead, with each transaction you can still receive key benefits include:

-Welcome gift on signup (usually a $10 voucher)

-Birthday rewards each year

-News, brands and sales updates

-Access to exclusive offers and surprises

-Invitations to member events and competitions

-Entry into the monthly draw to win David Jones gift cards worth $5,000 with every purchase

Perks you probably didn’t know about

Is it possible to earn reward points with David Jones? Yes, the only main way to earn ‘David Jones points’ is actually just through a version of the Amex Membership Rewards (MR) program: David Jones American Express Card Members and David Jones American Express Platinum Card Members!

David Jones American Express card

Earn 2 MR points per $1 spent at David Jones, 3 MR points per $1 spent at major supermarkets and petrol stations, and 1 MR point per $1 spent everywhere else. Additional store-only benefits include the ability to defer payments for certain purchases.

It’s a good entry-level card if your main expenses are groceries and fuel, plus the occasional spend at David Jones.

David Jones American Express Platinum card

Earn 4 MR points per dollar spent in-store, with most of the other earn rates and benefits being the same as the non-Platinum card.

You can also get complimentary travel insurance when the full cost of travel is paid from the card, plus two complimentary lounge passes to the American Express lounge at Sydney and Melbourne International Airports. With this, customers’s benefit will extend the manufacturer’s warranty for up to 12 months on eligible items purchased on your card, while Purchase Protection offers peace of mind with insurance up to 90 days if your eligible item purchased with the card is stolen or damaged.

David Jones Storecard

Earn 1 point per dollar spent at David Jones which includes rewards such as gift cards or Qantas Points. However, applications are no longer accepted for the David Jones Storecard.

Everything you need to know about their special limited offer which ends on 2nd Dec 2020 plus the exclusive benefits offered under each card are all here. You can also manage your David Jones American Express credit card here

Redeem your David Jones rewards points

Qantas direct earn

Earn Qantas Points at half the advertised Membership Rewards earn rates where all the points you earn will be automatically swept to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account each month.

For example:

- A  Platinum card member would earn 4 MR points per $1 spent at David Jones, or 2 Qantas Points per $1 spent instead.

- For supermarkets and fuel stations, that’s 1.5 Qantas Points per $1.

- For everything else, it’s a low 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 (this is one of the card’s shortcomings).

Flexibility with Membership Rewards

If you don't want to redeem with Qantas, then the alternative would be to redeem your points in the flexible Membership Rewards program, such as:

- Can pay for David Jones purchases in-store or online

- Transfer to nine other frequent flyer programs including Velocity, KrisFlyer and Asia Miles at a 2:1 ratio

- Use MR points for a credit on your card account

-Swap MR points to gift cards, travel bookings or other merchandise
