WeMoney Referral Programs

Version 1.0, dated 07/08/2026.

WeMoney runs two referral programs.

  • Part A applies to both. Read it first.
  • Part B applies to the member referral program, where a member invites someone to join.
  • Part C applies to the community referral program, where a club, charity or community organisation gives out a card or code.

Part A: Terms that apply to both programs

A1. Who runs these programs

These programs are run by WeMoney Pty Ltd (ACN 633 007 860, ABN 88 633 007 860), Australian Credit Licence 526330, of Level 1, 63-73 Ann Street, Surry Hills, NSW 2010, Australia ("WeMoney", "we", "us").

These terms sit alongside the WeMoney Terms of Use, which continue to govern your use of WeMoney. Where these terms and the Terms of Use differ on either referral program, these terms apply to that program only. By taking part you accept these terms.

These terms replace the earlier WeMoney Referral Program terms and conditions from the date shown above.

A2. The two programs

The member referral program. An existing member invites someone to join WeMoney. When that person becomes a fully onboarded member under clause A4, WeMoney pays both the member who referred them and the person who joined. Part B applies.

The community referral program. A sports club, charity or community organisation gives out a card, code, link or QR code. When someone joins through it and becomes a fully onboarded member under clause A4, WeMoney makes a contribution to that organisation. The person who joins receives nothing. Part C applies.

The same event counts in both programs. That event is in clause A4.

If someone else referred you. You may have joined WeMoney through a cashback site, comparison site or another business that offers its own reward for signing up. Those rewards are not part of these programs. They come from that business, under its own terms, and you should contact it directly about them.

A3. Who may be counted as joining

To be counted as a person joining WeMoney under either program, you must:

  • be 18 years of age or older at the time you join,
  • be a resident of Australia, and meet the eligibility criteria in clause 3(b) (Eligibility) of the WeMoney Terms of Use,
  • be a new WeMoney member, meaning you have not previously been a fully onboarded member under clause A4,
  • be joining once, for yourself, in your own name and with your own details, and
  • become a fully onboarded member under clause A4.

The following cannot be counted: anyone who has previously been a fully onboarded member, whether they still hold that account or have come back, and anyone joining on behalf of another person. WeMoney employees and contractors, and anyone holding a commercial agreement with WeMoney, also cannot be counted where the purpose is to generate a payment or contribution.

You can still be counted if you have already started. If you have created a WeMoney account, and even completed identity verification, but have not yet connected a financial account, you have not finished onboarding. So you can still use a link, code or card and be counted. See clause A5.

Part B sets out who may refer. Part C adds a further exclusion.

A4. When a referral counts

This clause defines the counted event for both programs.

A referral counts when a person who meets clause A3 becomes a fully onboarded member. That means they have:

  1. created a WeMoney membership,
  2. completed identity verification, and
  3. connected at least one financial account.

All three are needed, and each must be completed by the person joining, using their own identity and their own accounts.

You can create a WeMoney membership in the app or on our website. Connecting a financial account may happen by any method WeMoney supports. Neither the way you sign up nor the connection method makes any difference to whether a referral counts.

Each program adds one further requirement about how the person came to WeMoney: clause B2 for the member program, clause C5 for the community program.

A5. One referral only, and which one counts

Each person who joins is counted once, on their first eligible account only.

A person is counted towards one program only, and one referrer or partner only, even if they used more than one link, code or card.

The first one you use is the one that counts. You can use a link, code or card at any time up until you become a fully onboarded member under clause A4, and the first valid one you use is the one we count.

Using another one afterwards makes no difference. A later link, code or card does not replace an earlier one and does not change who is paid.

A partner's code is not valid after that campaign has closed. An invalid code is not counted and does not use up your one referral, so if you try a code that has expired you can still use another one. Ask us at any time and we will tell you which one applies.

Once a referral is counted, it is settled. We will not move it to a different link, code or card afterwards, except to correct our own records. If correcting our records would move a payment we have already made, we do not ask for that payment back. We pay whoever the corrected record says should be paid, and whoever we paid first keeps what they received.

A6. What is never required

Nothing in either program depends on applying for credit, being approved for credit, borrowing or settling a loan, for you, for a referring member, for a partner, or for anyone else. You do not need to apply for or take out any product to take part, and the outcome of any application you or anyone else chooses to make later has no effect on any payment or contribution. Nothing on this page is an offer of credit, a recommendation, or financial or credit advice.

A7. How you must conduct yourself

Taking part in either program is conditional on the following. You must:

  • give true, current and complete information when you join, and use only your own identity and your own accounts,
  • join once and hold one account,
  • use any link, code, card or QR code as it was given to you, and
  • follow the WeMoney Terms of Use (including the User Rules in Annexure 1) and the Community Guidelines at all times.

You must not, and must not attempt to:

  • create multiple or duplicate accounts, or accounts using false, borrowed or another person's details,
  • create accounts that are not genuine, or that exist mainly to generate a payment or contribution,
  • use automated means, scripts, bots or bulk sign-up methods,
  • buy, sell, trade or auction a referral link, code or QR code,
  • alter, copy, reprint or reproduce any WeMoney or campaign materials, or create your own versions of them,
  • give any referral materials to a person under 18, or place them on any asset aimed at children,
  • hold yourself out as WeMoney, or as speaking for WeMoney, or make claims about WeMoney or its products beyond the materials we supply,
  • tamper with, interfere with, reverse-engineer or exploit the sign-up flow, tracking, links, codes or QR codes,
  • harass, pressure or mislead any person into joining, or
  • engage in any other conduct that is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, unlawful, or designed to obtain a payment or contribution that is not payable.

One offer at a time. A referral counted under one of these programs is not counted under any other WeMoney offer or promotion as well.

Part B adds further rules for referring members. Part C adds further rules for the community program.

A8. Checking, and what happens if these terms are breached

We may check that these terms have been met before anything is counted or paid, including by reviewing sign-up source data, account details and account activity, and we may hold a referral while we do so. We decide eligibility and conduct acting reasonably and on the information available to us, and we will tell you our reason.

Where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, we may (in any combination):

  • refuse to count a referral,
  • withhold, adjust or reverse a payment or contribution that resulted from it,
  • withdraw a link, code, card or materials from any person or group misusing them, and
  • report the conduct to law enforcement or to any other relevant authority.

If someone who referred you breaches these terms, that does not affect your own payment, unless you took part in the breach or knew about it. We act against the person responsible.

Where the conduct also breaches the WeMoney Terms of Use, we may act on the account under those terms. This clause does not create any separate power over your WeMoney account.

These rights apply while a program or campaign is running and afterwards, once conduct comes to light.

If you think a decision under this clause is wrong, tell us. We will handle it under our Complaint Handling Statement and the complaints process in clauses 30 and 31 (complaints and external dispute resolution) of the WeMoney Terms of Use. That includes external dispute resolution through the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, of which WeMoney is a member.

A9. No obligation to count

We are not obliged to count a referral that does not meet these terms. Where we decline to count one we do so acting reasonably under clause A8, we will tell you why, and clause A8's complaints process applies.

A10. Changes, suspension and withdrawal

We may change these terms, or suspend, withdraw or end either program, or any campaign under Part C, for a person, for a partner, for a region or entirely, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. Reasons include (without limitation) suspected abuse, gaming or fraud, unusual activity, technical or tracking failures, regulatory or legal reasons, the end of a partner arrangement, or a commercial decision by WeMoney.

A change does not apply retrospectively. Anything already completed and counted before a change takes effect stands, and any payment or contribution already earned is still payable.

The version that applies to you is the one published when you first used a link, code or card, or, if you referred someone, when you made that referral. This is a change from the general position in clause 37 (changes to these Terms) of the WeMoney Terms of Use, and applies to these programs only. The current version is always the one published on this page.

Changes are made part by part. A change to Part B does not affect a person taking part under Part C, and a change to Part C does not affect a person taking part under Part B. A change to Part A affects both.

A11. Privacy

We use referral link, code, card and QR code data to work out which referrals count and who they belong to. Your personal information is collected, used and disclosed in line with the WeMoney Privacy and Credit Reporting Policy. Where your connection uses the Consumer Data Right, our CDR Policy also applies.

What a referring member is told about the person they referred is in clause B6. What a partner is told is in clause C6.

A12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, cost or damage arising from your participation in either program, including from technical failures, tracking or attribution failures, a lost or unreadable QR code, link or card, a referral not being counted, disqualification under clause A8, or a change to or withdrawal of a program or a campaign.

This does not limit our obligation to pay a payment or contribution that has been earned, or your rights under clause A8 if you think a decision was wrong. The limitation of liability in clause 26 (limitation of liability) of the WeMoney Terms of Use also applies. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

A13. General

The information on this page is general in nature and is not financial, credit, legal or tax advice. WeMoney provides credit assistance in relation to products from its lender panel and is paid commission by lenders, see our Credit Guide for details.

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, and any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.

Part B: The member referral program

B1. What each of you receives

When someone you refer becomes a fully onboarded member under clause A4, we pay both of you:

  • you, the member who referred them, and
  • the person who joined.

Unless the referral is counted towards the community referral program instead, under clause A5. In that case a contribution goes to that partner and neither of you is paid.

The amount is the one shown in the app when the person you referred used your link or code. We may change the amounts from time to time, and the amount shown at that moment is the one that applies to that referral.

Joining WeMoney is free, for both of you. Neither payment depends on either of you applying for or taking out any product. See clause A6.

B2. If you are referring someone

Who may refer

To refer someone you must be an existing WeMoney member, hold one account, and not be suspended or restricted under the WeMoney Terms of Use at the time the referral is counted.

The person you refer must be in Australia. If they are overseas, the referral will not count and neither of you will be paid.

You also cannot be paid for referring:

  • yourself, or a person using your details or your accounts,
  • a person who has previously been a fully onboarded member,
  • a person who does not meet clause A3, or
  • a person who is counted towards the community referral program instead, under clause A5, because they had already used a partner's card or code before yours.

We may decline to pay a referral payment to a WeMoney employee or contractor, or to anyone holding a commercial agreement with WeMoney, on either side of a referral, where we reasonably consider there is a conflict of interest or a risk of the program being gamed.

How to refer

Share your own WeMoney referral link or code, from the app, with a person who is not yet a fully onboarded member. They must use it before they finish onboarding. If they finish onboarding without having used it, the referral does not count.

Your referral link does not expire.

Use only the link, code and materials WeMoney gives you. Do not make your own.

Telling the person that you will be paid

The message WeMoney provides in the app tells the person that you will both be paid. If you use it, you have done what this clause requires.

If you invite someone in your own words instead, you must still tell them that you will receive a payment from WeMoney if they join.

Further rules for referring

In addition to clause A7, you must not:

  • send unsolicited bulk messages, emails or texts, or post your link or code where it is not wanted,
  • post your link or code on a coupon, cashback, deal or referral-exchange site, or anywhere it is offered in return for something,
  • pay for advertising that uses WeMoney's name, or bid on WeMoney's name in search advertising,
  • imply that WeMoney endorses you or that you speak for WeMoney,
  • say anything about WeMoney's products beyond what WeMoney's own materials say. In particular, do not suggest that anyone apply for a loan or any other credit product, and do not discuss interest rates, fees, approval or anyone's financial situation. If you are asked about any of that, tell the person to contact WeMoney at hello@wemoney.com.au,
  • refer a person you do not know personally, or a person who is not real.

Using the same device. You and the person you refer should each use your own device. Where a referral is made and accepted on the same device, we may decline to count it if we reasonably consider it is not a genuine referral between two different people. We will tell you why, and clause A8's complaints process applies.

Limits

We may limit the number of referrals we count for you. Any limit that applies, and the period it applies over, is published on this page before it takes effect. This promise applies despite clause A10.

B3. If you were referred

You are paid too. If a WeMoney member referred you and you use their link or code, we pay you once you become a fully onboarded member under clause A4. The amount is the one shown in the app when you use their link or code.

To be paid, you must:

  • use the referring member's link or code at any time before you become a fully onboarded member,
  • meet clause A3, including being a resident of Australia, and
  • complete all three steps in clause A4.

What could stop your payment:

  • finishing onboarding without having used the link or code,
  • not completing all three steps in clause A4,
  • having already used a partner's card or code before the member's code, in which case the partner's one counts under clause A5, so a contribution goes to that partner and you receive nothing, or
  • your own breach of these terms, under clause A8.

What does not stop your payment. If the person who referred you breaches these terms, your payment is unaffected unless you took part in the breach or knew about it. See clause A8.

We do not tell the person who referred you anything about your account beyond the fact that a referral was counted. See clause B6.

B4. When and how you are paid

We pay a referral within 30 days after it is counted, so that we can check clause A8 first, by the method shown in the app.

If we cannot deliver a payment to you, it remains payable. If you think you are owed a payment and have not received one, tell us at hello@wemoney.com.au and we will arrange it.

Disconnecting later does not cost you the payment. Once we have paid you, we will not ask for it back if you later disconnect an account or withdraw your consent to share your data.

B5. Tax

A referral payment may be assessable income for you, whichever side of the referral you are on. You are responsible for your own tax. WeMoney does not give tax advice.

B6. What each of you is told about the other

We tell a referring member when a referral has been counted and what they have been paid. We tell them nothing else about the person they referred, including whether that person verified their identity, whether they connected an account, whether they were paid, or anything about their finances.

We do not tell you whether a person you invited has joined. If no referral has been counted for you, that may be because they did not join, or because their referral was counted elsewhere under clause A5. We cannot tell you which, because that would tell you about their account. Clause B2 sets out what stops a referral being counted for you.

We do not give the person who joined any information about the referring member's account.

Part C: The community referral program

C1. What it is

When a person joins WeMoney through a partner's card, code, link or QR code and becomes a fully onboarded member under clause A4, WeMoney makes a contribution to that partner.

The contribution goes to the partner. You receive no money, discount, prize or other benefit for taking part, and nothing you do after joining changes what the partner receives. Joining WeMoney is free.

If a WeMoney member also referred you, clause A5 decides which program counts. Only one applies.

C2. The partner

In Part C, the partner means the sports club, charity, community organisation or other cause named on the card, code, link or QR code you used. We do not run campaigns with schools, or with organisations whose community is primarily people under 18.

The partner does not provide financial services, credit assistance or advice of any kind, is not our agent, and is not responsible for the WeMoney app or this program.

A campaign means the program we run with a particular partner, for the period and on the details published on that campaign's own materials. Each partner has its own campaign, and campaigns run at different times.

C3. Campaign period

Each campaign runs for its own period, set by WeMoney for that partner. The period that applies to you is the one published on the materials for that campaign, such as the card, email or landing page you used.

A campaign is open only during its period. After a campaign closes, that partner's code stops working and the app will tell you it is no longer valid.

What matters is when you used the code, not when you finished onboarding. If you used the partner's code while the campaign was open, it still counts, even if you connect a financial account after the campaign has closed. If you used it before the campaign opened or after it closed, it does not count.

We may extend, shorten or end a campaign period under clause A10.

C4. Who cannot take part

In addition to clause A3, partner officials, staff and volunteers cannot be counted where the purpose is to generate a contribution.

C5. How to take part in this program

As well as becoming a fully onboarded member under clause A4, you must have come to WeMoney through the partner. So use the partner's link or QR code, or enter the partner's code when the app asks how you found us. You can do this when you create your account, or at any time afterwards up until you become a fully onboarded member, as long as the campaign is still open.

C6. What the partner is told

A partner never receives your name, your contact details, or any information about your finances.

We tell a partner how many people have joined through its campaign, and nothing more. We do not report any number until a campaign reaches 10 sign-ups, so that a small partner cannot work out who joined. At the end of a campaign we tell the partner the final total, because the partner needs it to check the payment we make.

C7. Materials

Campaign cards, codes, links and QR codes are ours. Use them as they were given to you. Clause A7 applies.

C8. Our arrangements with partners

Any rights we hold against a partner sit in our arrangements with that partner rather than in these terms.
