How WeMoney helped Lily see her money clearly and finance a replacement car
Lily had kept a budget since she was 16, but still needed several banking apps to work out where her money had gone. WeMoney gave her one view of her spending, net worth and credit score, then helped her compare a car loan when her old car needed replacing.

Lily's story at a glance
- Member: Lily, in her twenties
- Before WeMoney: a detailed budget, several banking apps and recurring subscriptions that were easy to miss
- What she needed later: a new $22,000 car loan, not debt consolidation
- How WeMoney helped: brought her spending categories, net worth and credit score into one place, then showed matched car-loan options with approval likelihood, rates and fees
- Her experience: she chose the lowest rate among her matches and says the lender completed the process the same day
Before WeMoney
Lily had budgeted since her first job at 16. Her mum kept the books for the family business and taught her to write down where her money needed to go. Lily kept the habit and became the friend other people asked about money.
The budget still did not answer every question. She would check separate banking apps before spending on herself because some weeks the money in the accounts did not match what she expected. Recurring subscriptions were one reason, although the wider problem was having the plan and the transactions in different places.
"Some weeks I'd be like, where did my money go?"
How she found us
Lily discovered WeMoney in 2021 through a mortgage broker she followed on TikTok. He reviewed several finance apps and she trusted the way he explained them. She still checked the reviews herself and looked for evidence that the app and account connection were legitimate before signing up.
The first reason she joined was visibility. A house had come onto the market and made her think about buying one day, even though she knew she was not ready then. Seeing her financial position clearly felt like a useful place to start.
How WeMoney helped
After Lily connected her accounts, WeMoney categorised her spending and showed her net worth and credit score in one place. She no longer needed to reconstruct the same picture from separate statements and banking apps. She could also check her credit score without a hard check that a lender could see.
Years later, that same view helped when her car was on its way out. Lily had paid off an earlier dealership car loan and had been debt-free for a period. She did not want to borrow again without understanding what the new repayment would mean for her longer-term home goal.
WeMoney showed her matched loan options with approval likelihoods, rates and fees. Lily chose the lender with the lowest rate among her matches and valued the option to make extra repayments without a monthly fee after the establishment fee. The lender decision and funding belonged to the lender. Our role was to help her see the options and compare the details before continuing.
After WeMoney
Lily borrowed $22,000 for the replacement car, with repayments of $115 a week. She says the rate was lower than the options she had found searching online herself and that the lender completed the process on the same day.
"It came through so quick. And I was like, oh, I felt like I didn't really have to do a whole lot."
The result was a working car and a repayment she had considered alongside the rest of her finances. It was new borrowing, so her repayments increased by design.
Lily still uses a budget and still makes trade-offs. The difference is that she can see more of the position without moving between apps. That visibility is also why friends now ask her how she knows her credit score.
"You're not alone... you don't need to feel shame. We're all here together."
See the position before choosing a loan
Connecting your accounts in WeMoney can show your spending, recurring costs, debts, net worth and credit score together. If you later need to consider a loan, WeMoney can show options you may be eligible for and help you compare rates, repayments, terms and fees before continuing to a lender.
Lily's timing, rate and repayment are her individual experience. Eligibility and outcomes vary, and her story is not a promise that another applicant will receive the same result.
